The goals of Staples’ Environmental Paper Procurement Policy include reducing demand for virgin wood fibre, protecting forests with high conservation value, and promoting well-managed forests. Currently, Staples requires vendors bidding to supply large-volume paper products (copy and print paper, notebook filler paper, etc.) to complete an environmental survey including descriptions of their forest sources, characteristics of the fiber sourced and mill-specific information to help us select responsible paper suppliers.

Staples manages and monitors the environmental impacts of our operations, from our energy use to our purchasing. To meet our environmental goals, we’re taking a multi-faceted approach that includes:

At Staples, we expect all of our suppliers to respect and protect worker’s human rights and manufacture goods in an environmentally sustainable manner. To maintain this standard, we audit and continue to monitor factories in developing countries supplying us with Staples brand® products for compliance with our Supplier Code of Conduct.
